Project Overview

Georgia’s Beauty Supply is a women-owned, minority-owned business serving the Washington, DC area. The store primarily caters to the African American community, providing a wide selection of hair care products, wigs, weaves, hair extensions, perms, styling tools, and accessories.

Although Georgia’s Beauty Supply had built a loyal customer base, its original logo—a crude, outdated typeface-only design—did not reflect the professionalism or stylish nature of the business. Through support from the Latino Economic Development Center (LEDC), the company sought to rebrand itself and better connect with its customers.

Challenges

  • Outdated Logo: The old typeface-only design lacked character, style, and relevance.
  • Limited Budget: As a small business working with LEDC resources, the project had financial constraints.
  • Quick Turnaround Needed: The company wanted to complete the rebrand in a short timeframe to align with other business initiatives.

Design Approach

I was commissioned to create a modern, stylish logo that authentically represents Georgia’s Beauty Supply and resonates with its audience.

Key Design Considerations:

  • Representation of Services: The logo needed to subtly reference hair, beauty, and style to visually communicate what the business provides.
  • Modern Aesthetic: Clean lines, balanced typography, and a refined style were used to elevate the company’s look and align with customer expectations.
  • Community Appeal: Designed with the African American community in mind, the logo captures the spirit of empowerment and self-expression that beauty products enable.
  • Simplicity & Versatility: Ensured the logo could be used across signage, packaging, and marketing materials without losing clarity.

Outcome

  • The final logo replaced the outdated wordmark with a fresh, contemporary identity that reflects both the professionalism and vibrancy of Georgia’s Beauty Supply.
  • The design highlights the store’s focus on beauty, hair care, and self-expression, making it clear what the business provides.
  • Delivered on a quick turnaround timeline, ensuring the client could move forward with other rebranding efforts promptly.
  • Despite budget constraints, the new identity gave Georgia’s Beauty Supply a professional edge in a competitive local market.

Conclusion

This project highlights how even small businesses with limited budgets can benefit from thoughtful branding. By redesigning Georgia’s Beauty Supply’s logo into a clean, modern mark, the business gained a professional identity that aligns with its products and customers. The rebrand not only gave the company a stronger visual presence but also reinforced its role as a trusted resource for beauty and hair care in the DC community.
