Project Overview

Naturally with Nature is a small, minority- and women-owned business dedicated to producing handmade organic hair and skin care products. The brand was founded by sisters Diane and Bernadette Andall, who identified a gap in the beauty market: many mainstream products are filled with chemicals and fail to meet the needs of people of color. Their mission is to create products that are good for both the body and the environment, empowering customers with natural, safe, and effective alternatives.

Challenges

  • New Business, No Identity: They needed a logo and visual identity to bring professionalism and recognition to their products
  • Crowded Market: The natural beauty space is highly competitive, making differentiation crucial.
  • Limited Marketing Budget: Resources for advertising were tight, requiring a focused and strategic approach to digital marketing.
  • Convoluted Packaging Needs: The logo had to work well across multiple product formats and maintain readability at small sizes.

Design Approach & Art Direction

When developing the logo, I wanted to create an image that embodied natural beauty, individuality, and cultural pride. The final mark features a stylized woman’s face framed by an afro of green leaves—a symbol of both organic growth and representation.

Design Elements:

  • Leaf Motif Hair: Communicates the brand’s natural and eco-friendly mission while also resonating culturally with the intended audience.
  • Elegant Typography: A clean serif paired with a script style balances professionalism with a handmade, artisanal feel.
  • Color Palette: Green for nature and wellness, black for sophistication and strength, and a touch of red to bring vibrancy and balance.
  • Versatility: The design works in single-color, full-color, and scaled-down versions for use on packaging, social media, and print.

This direction ensured that the brand identity was not only visually striking but also carried meaningful symbolism aligned with the sisters’ mission.

Digital Marketing Campaign

In addition to branding, I guided Naturally with Nature through their first steps into online marketing. Given their limited budget, I educated them on the most impactful platforms for their audience.

Platform Strategy: We launched their campaign on Facebook, chosen for its affordability, strong community features, and ability to target niche audiences. Plans were outlined to eventually branch into Instagram once the budget allowed.
Content Direction: Advised them on creating posts that highlight:

  • Product benefits (organic, chemical-free, handmade)
  • Cultural representation in beauty
  • Environmental sustainability
  • Customer testimonials and before/after visuals

Campaign Goal: Build awareness, legitimize the brand, and grow an engaged local audience that could become repeat buyers.

Results & Impact

  • The logo and packaging designs gave the brand a professional, polished look that communicates trust and authenticity.
  • Customers responded positively to the new brand identity, associating the visuals with natural beauty and cultural pride.

By focusing on a symbolic, culturally relevant logo and targeted online presence, Naturally with Nature now has the tools to connect with its audience authentically, differentiate itself in the marketplace, and continue growing in alignment with its mission of creating organic, inclusive, and sustainable beauty products.
